Re: [RC] "ask the mechanic" (was tire pressures) - Sisu West RanchThe only problem with following the manufacturer's recommendations is that they have a financial incentive in being able to advertise that they have a longer oil change interval. They also know that if the "average" owner does not have a problem before he trades in the vehicle he will be happy. If on the other hand if you desire to have your vehicle last twice as long as the average owner, you may need to be more careful about the oil change interval.There is probably no way to know for sure. I tend to guess that I would be better served by changing oil a bit more frequently. Especially since the only direct cost is the oil and filter.
