There is no possible way that the "computer" can actually know what is going on with the oil. It has to be looking at either hours, or mileage. I suspect that it is miles, and the computer is just reporting the elapsed miles in light of the manufacturer's "normal" recommendations.My personal feeling, and I have put long mileage on lots of cars/trucks, is to assume that your personal usage is "hard" and change oil very often. Oil is much cheaper than an engine overhaul.
