Re: [RC] [RC] BIting Horse at Ride - Genevieve

Yes, people SHOULD ride defensively. But they should also teach their horses manners. Who's going to make them do either of those things?

You DON'T know if someone is going to have common sense around your horse, but you DO know what your horse is capable of doing and has done in the past. If you let something happen that you saw coming and that you could have prevented,... I mean, seriously.

Ed -- while I do agree, and it sure sounds like a great idea, personally I am not going to trust that someone I don't even know is a good enough horse trainer to accomplish this. I've been around horses too long and people even longer, to put my faith (and well-being) into a stranger's hands, especially when it comes to something like this.

The vast popularity of the various horse trainers at expos, on tv, etc. testify to the fact that the majority of people who own horses are NOT in fact capable of training them...many times they are barely capable of controlling them.

Drive defensively, ride defensively.

But, yes, you are right about the reprimand. The owner should have smacked the holy c**p out of that mare...and if she didn't, then the OP should have.
