RE: [RC] biting horse - sanctions - heidiSo, what you are saying - in contrast to what I understood from Bruce's post, is that in a case such as this, the ONLY option is to file a full, formal protest if Ride Management doesn't want to take on the job of talking to or educating the rider. That there is no other way to have the situation addressed outside of the formal protest mechanism. There is no way to initiate a lower-key feedback mechanism in order to educate a rider about expected trail manners, or horse manners, etc., similar to what the WOTH committee does for horse welfare issues. Well, no, that isn't quite what Laura said. She said that you go through the "process." The first part of that "process" is to contact your regional director to try to get something resolved, before filing a formal protest. But I will say again what I said before, in response to Susan G's good post: THE FIRST STEP IS TO ASK THE RIDE MANAGEMENT TO ENFORCE THE RULES! It really makes me sad to see these cases out on e-mail lists when it appears that NO attempt was made AT THE RIDE to request that the RM enforce AERC's rules.
