Re: [RC] the horse can't out pull you - Barbara McCraryThis reminds me of an experience we had in 1975. I had ventured into NE California to see some range-raised Morgans. Our then 15-year-old daughter needed a new horse. I selected a bay filly, but needed a way to get her to our home, several hundred miles away. A friend who lived in that area was coming this way and agreed to bring the filly to us.The poor filly was not broke at all, and they could not get her into the 2-horse straight load trailer. The idiot who bred these horses brought out his tractor, ran the rope through the hay window, and dragged the filly into the trailer. She arrived at our place with cuts on her head and a swollen eye that later revealed bone chips. Our vet found that the filly's brow bone had been broken...fortunately only a few chips. Imagine the trauma she must have suffered. Our teenage daughter managed to gain her confidence, broke her to ride and she turned out to be a nice little mare. I cannot imagine doing that to a horse.
