RE: [RC] Rude Riders.. - Katrina MosshammerHi Shannon, I started competing in Ct. Reg. when I was 6. I loved the camaraderie and sense of family we always had. Going to a ride was like going to a family reunion and seeing all your favorite aunts & uncles and cousins. Back then everybody knew everybody. I took some time off from endurance while in high school and college. When I came back I saw things in a whole different light. It just wasn't the same. I was talking with one of our long time vets that I had know since I was a toddler about how much things had changed, and not everything was for the better. I said it "never used to be like this." She just laughed and said, "No, honey...It's always been this way, you were just having to much fun to notice." I do feel like we have lost that family feeling that we used to have. It's a shame too. That's what I always used to love about Central, how close knit we were. Not sure if I was just having so much fun it went over my head or what? I first became aware of this in Nov when there was an issue with trail cutting on the 50, on I think only the second day. I did the 25 both days and had people cut in front of me both days. Maybe since I am a back packer I don't let this bother me but I sure did not expect RM to deal with it. Actually the first day the people that cut came to us and said how did we come in ahead of you? This was their first ride and my riding buddy said you must have cut trail they said no you must have gone on trail and did more. We left it at that, the funny thing was my riding buddy ended up with the turtle award and the cutters both days lost out on a neat prize. But in their defense both days I really do not think it was intentional. So I guess what my question is what has happened was I just blind to this until Nov or is a bad culture getting started in the Central Division? If is really is just two spoiled brats they can ruin it for all of us! And if they are not on this list they are not getting the message, maybe as a RM they should not allow them to attend.
