My husband, who helps ride management by helping with the pr checks, mentioned that going behind the horse and honking the horn was probably more for show and getting people to notice them, they wanted that big time,  and not to make the horse go faster. No point in that anyway since the next riders, me and another rider, were over 1 1/2 hrs.behind the first place horse.  That could possibly cause the horse to be lame or too excited and mess up his bc score.  Just something else to think about.  I just want my nice endurance family back where everyone got along, supported, and helped each other.  That is my goal as OCER  pres this year.  The vast majority of us are like that.  Why spend all this time critizing brats when we could be encouraging each other and welcoming and helping newcomers to the sport.
