RE: [RC] [AERC_CT_Region] Rude Riders and Great Ride Managers!!!! - Chastain, Shannon L.

Yep I agree the vast majority of the riders are great and I get help all the time, really don't see that as the issue here. IF the Central Ride managers get sick and tired of being beat up by rude riders and quit managing rides then we have no rides to smile through. I want to do this long enough I no longer feel like a newbie in maybe 10 years:-)) I have only done one NATRC ride because I did not like the attitudes of the majority of the riders, They were so afraid me my horse will not even side pass how am I going to beat them! Dang I found out at a clinic this last weekend I have not even been holding my reins right!

I am a member of MOTDRA (CTR?endurance mix) and totally fell in love with the people at my first ride, that first ride was terrible for me I knew nothing! But I still had a great time because of the people and I stayed with the sport because of that. They will help you to the point of beating them then clap the loudest when you do. But I am being to see the same kind of thing happening with them, sad very very sad.

My husband, who helps ride management by helping with the pr checks, mentioned that going behind the horse and honking the horn was probably more for show and getting people to notice them, they wanted that big time,  and not to make the horse go faster. No point in that anyway since the next riders, me and another rider, were over 1 1/2 hrs.behind the first place horse.  That could possibly cause the horse to be lame or too excited and mess up his bc score.  Just something else to think about.  I just want my nice endurance family back where everyone got along, supported, and helped each other.  That is my goal as OCER  pres this year.  The vast majority of us are like that.  Why spend all this time critizing brats when we could be encouraging each other and welcoming and helping newcomers to the sport.  Ride with a smile on your face and joy in your heart we are so blessed with great trails, beautifu l country, and wonderful ride managers helping to make our dreams come true.  Ok, I've said enough!!   Happy Trails, Kathy
