Okay... am I the only one on Ridecamp who feels Truman has stepped 
completely outside the bounds of common decency?  I consider it obscene 
that he would say it is worse for a horse to break its neck on a jump than 
for a child to do so.

We in Endurance do not appreciate riders from other disciplines calling us 
cruel and suggesting that we are abusing our horses by riding such long 
distances but how much more appalled would YOU be if you read on the 
Chronicle of the Horse that some hunter/jumper type said, regarding 
Jeanne's accident that it served her right and then followed that up with 
another post that said, "Wait, I read it wrong.  It was worse.  The woman 
survived.  The HORSE died"?
