RE: [RC] Remote areas and hay delivery - heidiMy husband and I are considering moving to a rather remote location - tired of being so boxed in. This started me thinking about getting hay delivered. How do you people that live "off the beaten path" make arrangements for hay delivery?. Do you have to buy in larger quantities, etc.......... First of all, in some "remote" areas, you may be actually moving back closer to the source of the hay! Although we do have enough mother cows in this valley to eat up quite a bit of it, I am able to buy quite a bit of ours locally. That said, yes, you can buy in bigger quantities and have it delivered by the semi-load. Or, you can buy a flatbed trailer and haul it yourself. Almost all large hay growers will load flatbeds for you, so all you have to do is unload it at home. Even paying a trucker or hauling it ourselves, it is cheaper here than it is in most urban areas--again, because we are closer to the sources.
