...it doesn't
keep the grass green. For some reason, our seasons indicate the grass
shall turn brown by mid-June, and there is little to change that, even a wet
winter. I think in 1997-98, when we had so much rain (much more than
this year), the grass showed a tiny bit of green at about July 1st,
but then did its summer thing. Grass heads out and is destined to be dry
by mid-June...it's programmed that way.

*Just a side note; most of Calif. native
grasslands (perennial bunch grasses) is gone, replaced by European
annuals...the native grasses have been mostly out-competed with the non-native
species...has caused some interesting soils and ecological changes.
Annuals are programmed to grow fast, produce seed and die (turn
brown)...
