RE: [RC] Bird flu joke? - Tracey LomaxMarv, Living in Africa gives you a whole new appreciation for "funny lurgies". About six years ago my then husband became very ill. Fever above 40C, aching everywhere, delirium, nausea, vomiting, headaches. He was tested for everything from malaria to tick bite fever and everything came back negative - malaria, tick bite fever, Hep B, meningitis, yellow fever, you name it, he DIDN'T have it. After spending ten days in an isolation ward and being treated symptomatically, he was better and he was released. To this day, nobody knows what he had other than it was "a viral bacterial infection". The biggest worry in my life right now is African Horse Sickness which has, so I'm told, killed 160 horses in Johannesburg in less than a week. Bird flu is the LEAST of my worries.
