[RC] FairHill 100 Winner - Carolyn Burgess<<FairHill 100 has a winner Prymtym. I notice he has no breast collar on. I wonder if this picture was taken after the ride?Another picture on page 52 shows a breast collar and crupper. Is FairHill a flat course (not an Endurance Course)? A few years ago a rider at the Tevis elected not to use a breast collar. Not very far into the ride the saddle slipped and a bad accident happened. Another rider was forced off the trail and was seriously injured and had to be taken via helicopter to a hospital. Just curious. Hope Lundquist>> Hope, I can't answer your question about whether Tom Hutchinson wears a breast collar, pretty funny since I see him and his horse, Prymtym, at many rides over the season, I only remember his saddle because talked to him about it at a ride once. I did see him at the Fairhill 100 (I was riding the 50) as he blew past me at approximately the 65 mile mark for him :-) My reason for replying is the comment "Is FairHill a flat course (not an Endurance Course)?" Aren't all endurance rides held on Endurance Courses? This ride only has two memorable hills (at least for me). This ride had alot of pulls for lameness because of its deceptively easy looking course. It was mostly through rolling fields, that were very wet and were like riding on deep, soft sponges. When they took you out of the fields, it was onto trails in the woods. ===== Carolyn Burgess Email: carolyn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Website: http://www.doubleheartranch.com Phone: 1-978-897-6624 Fax: 1-419-735-1117 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
