[RC] [RC] hobbles - AprilAt LBL this year, I saw 2 mules and a horse picketed to a stake in the ground. The tethers looked like thick chains covered in rubber. Made them flexible, but shouldn't hurt the equine (although most horses can find something to get hurt on) and hard to get wrapped up in. They didn't attach to the leg, though. Attached to the halter. All 3 did quite well with this setup. I don't think they were endurance riders. Just pleasure riders that happened to be there at the same time. This may be a stupid question: I was wondering if anyone has ever considered a single-leg hobble staked, on a horse that is trained to it? At least he could lay down then...
