Re: [RC] [RC] was: hobbles; now: tied to trailer - Zephyr Arabians--- Dawn Simas <dawnsimas67@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Did the Wild West Ride yesterday and there was a "no portable corrals" rule due to space. I don't have hi-ties, so my boy did the night the "old school" way, tied on my trailer. He sleeps laying down every night, so I felt badly for him not being able to do so. Dawn, I can't help you on the hobbles, but horses CAN and DO lie down just fine when tied to the trailer. Mine have never camped any way other than tied to the trailer, and they have no problems lying down. In NATRC you have no option other than tied to the trailer and that's how I started in distance riding. You're taught what length to tie (the clip should just barely touch the ground when hanging down) and the horses quickly figure it out. Knock on wood, I've never had a horse get tangled tied at that length, yet it allows them room to move and, as noted, lie down. Of course, this means they can also roll while tied. So if you have them all cleaned off and walk away... ~Nicole Zephyr Arabians http://www.zephyrarabians.com KattWmn Web Design http://www.kattwmn.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
