Re: [RC] More Daylight to ride! - rides2farI forget the numbers I saw associated with energy savings per winter month associated with DST, but they were significant. According to the article I read yesterday, they expect something like 1% savings...which is a heck of a lot nationwide. I wonder if they have stats on the numbers of kids run over when they don't change. :-P Personally, my school starts at 7:15 EST. That means I drive to school in the dark most of the year which is fine. Visibility good. However, just before the time changes the sun starts coming up as I drive in and with the sun on the horizon the glare is blinding. Much safer driving in the dark. A bigger danger than worrying about the dark these days is when they start school late and parents drive off to work (since they have to be there at 8) and leave the kid alone for 45 minutes or an hour "so they can catch the bus in daylight" :-/ I wish they'd let me debate whether to leave it DST all year. I'll counter every argument they come up with. :-) Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
