[RC] Anterior Enteritis (was Weather Change Colic) - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Cindy Lawbarabs@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I'm only an infrequent guest to Ridecamp, but see this topic come up from time to time. I've experienced not one but two cases of anterior enteritis in my competitive trail horses; in 1990 and 1992. Neither horse was on daily wormer, and both horses received excellent care. I consider myself a conservative rider (to a fault) which is one of the reasons I ride CTR, rather than endurance. In both cases the attending veterinarians were unable to give me any answers as to the root cause. Yes, there was a disturbance in the gut, but what initiated the chain of events was unknown. Heidi, feel free to contact me directly if you would like any details. l a w b a r a b s AT a o l DOT c o m It has only been in the last few years that I've heard of cases of anterior enteritis in endurance horses that were NOT on daily dewormers. Which makes me wonder if there is also something else we are doing that is influencing the small intestine to go haywire in such a manner, since this is a fairly uncommon sort of occurrence.
