Re: [RC] Safety factor of Biothane tack/yacht rope reins - Lynne GlazerBelieve me, Zilco reins will break. Mine broke handily at the stitching. I've also found the brass scissor snaps to usually go first. In her younger years, Ember could do the once or twice a year pulling thing. Usually there was provocation. I'd used the reins on her rope halter ring and tied with it while we were at the local In -n- Out hamburger joint. Another horse misbehaved, and there went the spendy reins. Another time at the same place, she pulled back when the horse next to her had twisted to itch himself, launching a water bottle which plonked her in the butt.Rope halters have no ability to "let go", which is why the scissor snaps attached to it DID. On an old biothane halter-bridle, the ring stretched into an oval before the scissor snap let go. Lynne Ember, Q (who has pulled only once in his life), and Twix (not sure about these halter-things at 10 weeks) On Jul 8, 2004, at 2:00 PM, DarkHorseGoddess@xxxxxxx wrote:
