[RC] Whining in the CT Region - Stephanie_D_AdairCouple months ago I kept checking the calendar, why do we seem to have such few rides throughout 2003? Well, they are all posted now! Yippee! It's slow at work today, so I printed the calendar and started checking off which rides I could go to. I have a problem! I am a single mom with a 4 year old, who goes to his Daddy's every other weekend. Guess where I'm at on these weekends? Riding, riding, riding. These are the weekends I can go to rides. There are 13 rides within my reach for this year. Thirteen! How many rides fall on MY free weekends? Four, just four. aaaaah, aha, aha, sniffle. So I start thinkin', (very dangerous). Need a babysitter. But wait, that's not fair! I have to leave on Friday, and I'm always WAY too tired to drive back Saturday, so I head out Sunday morning. That's too long! Too selfish! Okay, so now what? Thinking again. How many folks are in the same situation I am in? I know RM's are already pulling their hair out. Volunteers needed everywhere. A ride is not a trip to the Gym with a tot-spot in the corner. But I'm looking at it like if there is a real NEED, it is an opportunity for someone who loves kids, to earn MONEY. Personally, my son loves camping, outdoors, dirt. But he's too small to take care of himself for my 5 hour LD. Is there anyone else in my region who would benefit? Comments and ideas everyone? Steph - I want miles :-) Doc - does this mean I'm a trail horse now? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
