[RC] Tying vs. Not Tying in a stock trailer - Jonni JewellSince the trailer mentioned is a 2 horse trailer, my one suggestion is, that if the only way for you to get in and out of the trailer is through the main door / ramp, to use caution that when you open the door, the horse does not decide to be waiting to try to jump out on you. I have a 4 horse trailer, that I have removed the first divider, so I can let the horse ride loose in the first two spots, with a divider keeping him from going to the back part of the trailer. I do this also for weight and balance, as I like the horse to ride towards the front, or over the axle on my bumper pull trailer. Take the horse for a few short rides turned loose, and see if they seem to be comfortable. Mine found they could turn around rather quickly, and usually faced backwards. Also, I hauled with a water bucket about 1/2 full, hanging in the trailer, with a block of wood in it. The wood kept the splash factor down. But I really like to give very wet beet pulp mashes, starting days ahead to keep they well hydrated, and those guts moving. Have a safe trip.
