[RC] Bitless bridle - Randy or Cheryl Winter

In response to a stong horse and bitless bridle here were my experiences.
We have a very forward strong mare, kind soul, no other problems, just
STRONG and competitive by nature. When we trained alone, she did nicely,
and even with one other horse it seemed to be ok. BUT when she got into
competition, it went out the window. She absolutely rooted the reins out of
my arms, totally flipped me off, and let the adrenaline take over. BIG
MISTAKE. I switched her over to a low port mullen mouth with a shank, and
she was so much nicer to deal with. She learned very quickly that she could
not do that, and I got to ride on a loose rein. Much more respectful. We
were both happier. I had to be very careful to be gentle with the bit, as it
has the potential to be dangerous if someone would be heavy handed with it.
I can see where someone could put a horse over backwards with one if not
careful, but she actually seemed happier in this bit, because the fight was
gone, no pulling or rooting., and she knew the rules and limits. Just my
two cents. Most of our horses go in a broken snaffle.
