RE: [RC] B.C.A.A. Complex - Bob Morris
Well, when you dose with B.C.C.A. Complex you are violating
Rule 13 ....AERC prohibits from competition equines who
contain evidence of the administration of abnormal
substances or of normal substances in abnormal amounts
(exogenously administered compounds even if normally found
endogenously). Since the complete effects of such
administration cannot be known, the fairness and safety
require the prohibition of such practices.
So I would believe that if you dose the horse with these
substances the amount would be an abnormal amount as it is
not normally consumed in any quantity in nature. Thus the
use of these substances in competition are precluded whether
they test or not.

Subject: Re: [RC] B.C.A.A. Complex
Several years ago I came in to work one Monday morning after
a ride
stiff and sore. It's more the climbing into the truck and
driving 6 to 8
hours Sunday that allows me to get stiff. A coworker who is
a
competitive weight lifter saw my pain and turned me on to
BCAA. I went
to the local GNC and the next ride I took them after the
ride and on
Sunday morning and no more stiffness Monday morning. They do
work for
this. Most likely has to do with management of lactic acid
as Roger
points out.
I do give them to the horse after a ride and on Sunday
morning in his
feed, but I use a bunch of the tablets I get form GNC for
me. He
deserves to be comfortable when he gets home. Do they
enhance endurance
performance - I have no idea. Will they turn the mid pack
horse into the
world champion - absolutely not. But will they cut 10
minutes off a 100
which might turn the 5 place in the world championship into
the world
champion - who knows. Will they test - what do you test for?
They are
nothing more than three proteins normally found. Like Roger
ask, is this
a drug or a perfectly legal feed supplement.
Truman (maybe this will get us off irrational hot button
number 3- LD -
onto hot button number 5 - Rule 13).
