Re: [RC] [RC] Trailer Batteries - Sisu West Ranch

Series: Like the old fashioned Xmas tree lights. Metal on trailer---- Negative (-) battery 1 plus (+)---Negative (-) battery 2 plus (+)--- the trailer lights

Parallel: Metal on trailer ---Negative (-) battery 1 ---(-) battery 2 then (+) battery 1---(+) battery 2--- Lights etc.

If you hook up in series two 6 volt batteries yield 12 V to run the lights etc.

If you hook up in parallel two 12 volt batteries yield 12 V to run the lights twice as long.

I have 3 12 V batteries in my trailer so I can run my lights and furnace 3 times as long!

Compare ampere hour rating on your batteries to see what length of time you will get. If you hook two batteries, they should be of identical size and age to get maximum life and performance. You should also consider the purchase of a "battery maintainer" to keep them going in the off season. This is a special type of charger that pulses the charging current to prevent over charging and can be left on for months. I got mine over the internet, but I think Batteries Plus has them now.
