RE: [RC] [Guest] Long shirts for cool riding...what's best? - Steph Teeter

Hannah - I've ridden hundreds of miles in longsleeve cotton shirts - they're
great in hot/dry climates, and when you get them wet they'll keep you very
cool.

There are also synthetic shirts on the market 'fishing shirts' - very light
and breathable, with cape vents on the back. These are probably the best -
most sport stores carry them. I know Columbia makes them (that's what I
have). Lighter than cotton, and they also do a great job cooling you when
you get them wet.

Good afternoon~
Since this is one of the most informative places I know to look, I have a
question that I would love some feedback on. I know that many people prefer
to wear long sleeved men's button-up shirts on rides in the summer, to keep
cool and to prevent sunburn (which happens only too easily on us fair
skinned people!). I have another 50 in a couple of weeks that is going to
be quite hot, and would like to buy a shirt to use. So my question is: for
those of you that wear these shirts on rides, which type of shirt would you
recommend? And where do you find them? Since it's a dry heat out here in
CA, wetting the shirt down seems like the biggest plus to me, almost like
built in air conditioning... :) Thank you all in advance, and hope you all
are having the best of summers!

thanks,
Hannah
