I haven't heard of any horses getting sick from communicable diseases
after an endurance race, which doesn't mean, of course, it doesn't
happen. Aside from strangles, what exact diseases are we talking about
here? And doesn't spreading strangles require that the horse with the
strangles be pretty sick - could it even pass a vet check? Or are there
"silent carriers" of strangles?
If it happens that horses are going home with bad bugs from shared
water, it's still such a small number compared to the number of
dehydrated horses at any ride as to not be important, in my opinion.
