Re: RC: Squirrels
Hi Anne,
I have an ARMY of cat(3which were dumped pregnant and I had fixed AND
THEIR FOUR KITTENS TOO ) and one which I adopted because my son was
asked by his vet if he knew anyone that liked cats with an" attitude
problem"(bad!).and he said "sure--my Mom"... he is now my wonderful
house cat (fixed also) and had rid both the house and garage where I
keep my grain of mice, gophers, snakes, moles, and even an occasional
ground squirrel. They are VERY big-- about half the size of groundhogs,
and it takes a STRONG cat to drag them in. Mine do, but there are just
too many of them out there! However, they hunt all the time and you may
have something there too--they may be helping me cut down the number in
my field, because all along the neighbor's fence line are the holes of
other ground squirrels(perhaps too afraid to move over--I hope so!)
And --you are very correct about feeding them well. Too many people
think they should be "hungry" to hunt and it isn't true....they need to
be big and healthy and then they will bring some of their"kill" home for
YOU to share! (after finding a decapitated snake(large gopher) in my
garage, my house sitter refused to ever come back again...what's with
some folks anyway??) Maureen
