Re: RC: sportsmanship

Striders, While racing in Florida this past December I was running with a
gorup of 5 riders, 6 counting myself. This was on ths second loop . We
came upon a dip in the road, lots of water. I backed my stallion out
letting the ladies and one newbie gentleman go first. Low and behold, the
guy and a lady{ahem} that he was riding with took their fill and than raced
off, leaving the rest of us in the lurch, and no water for our horses, for
they wanted to catch the runners. So, off we went, and bingo, we caught
them at the next water hole. At that point in my most kind midwestern way
I informed them that if they did that trick again, I was going to ride up
and jerk them off their horses. Two of the ladies{ahem} im the group
informed me that waiting for others at a watering hole was not very
competitive. I told her that if she wanted to be competitive to come on up
and we would have at it. No luck. They as a group finished about an hour
behind me that day. Angie, maybe you need to create a small list of trail
etiquette for our newbies. Jerry
