I have tried to ignore this thread but ,who determined that 50 miles is
endurance. Maybe only 100's are endurance. I believe that there are great 25
mile horses , great 50 mile horses and great 100 mile horses.Just like with
human atheles there are different distances that they are good at. The common
excuse to not acknowledge the 25ers is that it is hard on the horse because it
may be easier to let the ego ride the horse. Winning becomes the goal, but
what about putting up $250,000.00 in prize money for the world Championship,
does that not cause more concern that the safety of the horse may  be
sacrificed. I believe that that kind of money will have a much bigger negative
affect on horses welfare in the future than a $2.00 ribbon offered for a 25
mile ride.
