I am thinking perhaps Rex's post was sort of a hoax (I could be wrong!)
to get some really hot stuff going here...wasn't the return address
something like runs2far???  As far as your comments about strategy, etc.
I recently read Lew Hollander's book (loaned it to that sister so can't
remember the exact title) and I loved his suggestions for strategy...
it'a a great book!  Good reading for anyone who wants to ride endurance
or competitive or just trail riding!  I also think that if Rex is real,
people should be careful about lumping everyone who rides LD into his
category... we aren't all like that.  I think Rex is the exception.  If
you're going to judge us, at least judge us on our individual merits
instead of stereotyping us into this "racing" mass of fools!
