Tina, the girl that was not friendly on the loop is the same one that had
to beat the horse on the first loop. It was her first 50 on that horse,
and she had only done a couple of LD rides. I think that she was trained
wrong by the people that got her involved in the sport in the first
place--as I stated earlier--if I had to beat a horse to get him to go on
the first loop, I should be beat myself for going out. I am not against
crops or spurs as training aids, but having to use them to make a horse
go on the first loop is not a good thing, and definately not training. I
am not exaggerating when I say they were beating this horse. There were
two of them, and they both had crops and were laying it across this
horses rear HARD within the first 5 miles and continuing on through the
third loop. I don't know about the last loop, I know the girl walked
most of the last loop because the horse would not go.
I like to talk on the trail as well, but from working in rock and roll
bars for a good period of time, I am slightly deaf, so cannot hear the
average person if they are ahead of me. I try to talk, but usually wind
up only able to catch a few words here and there. I get tired of saying
"I'm sorry, I did not hear you", so I usually just keep quiet unless I am
in front and can turn to face the person that I am talking to.
