vetting

I've realy been enjoying all the discussion from (mostly) the other side of
the world (except hi to Linda and Ed!).
That was a nice piece on all the things the vet checks. I particularly
liked that a number of people have written in with good comments about
vetting - I certainly hate being placed in the position of policing riders
and appreciate very much those riders who treat their horse as most
important and completion as secondary to the horse's health and well-being.
As someone else has said, it is the rider who knows the horse best and who
has spent the most time with the horse - it can be impossible, even given
all the metabolic parameters we check, to detect everything. So, yes,
please, treat the vet as your friend, who wants you and your horse to
complete safely and well and be able to ride again tomorrow.

Endurance riders would have to be the most knowledgable groups of horse
people I have come across, and this obviously is not just a local phenomena.
Keep up the good stuff!
