[RC] beet pulp pellet question - sherman

Title: Message
I used the pelleted beet pulp once when the shreds were not available. If I recall correctly, using warm/hot water softened the pellets in about 15 minutes. I'd go do a test if I still had some, but I'm back to shreds, which I bought over a year ago (worried about another shortage). Anyway, possibly due to our hot dry summers, and a barn that dries well in winter I never had a problem with any mold. According to Susan Garlinghouse, http://www.shady-acres.com/susan/beetpulp.shtml , in the article The Myths and Reality of Beet Pulp, pellets can safely be fed dry unless you have a horse that bolts their food and is prone to choke. Choke is the problem, not beet pulp stealing water from the gut. My horses wouldn't touch it dry...
