Re: [RC] Beet pulp pellets question - Elizabeth WalkerI had to buy a bag of pellets one year when the feed stores ran out of shreds. I did the overnight soak, and that worked OK, but this was hot summer, and I was worried about it fermenting. I board, and the beet pulp was for feeding in the evening, so it would have to sit around all day. I tried soaking it in the fridge, but the pellets do not soften up well in that kind of cold. So -- I cooked it. :) Just like spaghetti, I would do a low simmer for about 1/2 an hour. The pellets decompose into little shreds. I would drain it, then bag it and stick it in the fridge for the next day. I could take it to work in my lunch, and it would stay cool until the evening. The shreds on pellets are smaller than with the loose shreds, but if you drain, and press out the excess water, it gets nice and fluffy. You can add fresh water to the desired consistency before you feed. So I bought a bag of pellets - does one soak the pellets, they are extremely hard and I don't know if the water would penetrate. If it does will it just turn to mush?. So anyone feeding beet pulp pellets please advise. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
