[RC] FEI, qualifying, btw.... - terre...there will be an FEI 1* and 2* Senior and Jr/Young Rider plus a 3* held in the vicinity of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 17 May 2009. (IOW 50, 75, 100 mile FEI rides). You can contact the Ride Manager Joan Harris for more details, entry forms, etc: farmcamp@xxxxxxxxxThis is what she has to say about her ride: so it sounds like a reasonable place to get a CoC. I BELIEVE it is possible (just barely) to do both this ride and Fort Howes June 6. The 1* and 2* are great opportunities to start 'qualifying'.This will basically be along the same trails as all of Long Islands 100 mile rides. Always variations due to winter damage etc. We have had no great time changes, whether the weather is hot or wet. Fastest time for 100 was approx 9:30. Slowest in the 13 hour range. Long Island has hosted endurance rides since 2002. Most years we have at least 2 rides there. The 100 mile started in '04. and has been run ever since. There is plenty of natural water along trail. If I don't want your horse in any water I have buckets for dipping. In dry years we have troughs out. If I was riding Stranger (in his prime) at Long Island I would always be under the 10 hour mark. He did a 100 mile ride near Edmonton in 8:56 and recovered to 13 in 10 min. Similar terrain and weather conditions. We have only had the normal amount of pulls. Since this ride is not AERC sanctioned, you won't get points for it, but you CAN get credit for your mileage. terre =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
