Most state horse councils have model release forms that meet the requirements of the states. I reality a release is a necessary but absolutely not a sufficient conditions to avoid legal problems. If you don't have it and are sued you are pretty much screwed. If you do have it - it can be thrown out in a nanosecond by the judge.Good state equine protect laws and following those laws to the letter and spirit are your best protection.
