I bought my current NSH from a show barn. She
hated the ring and loves the trails. She has been in the mountains
and flat lands. I have no fear we will both come back after an enjoyable
ride safe. My Niece has my horse's sister and rides her in the show
ring, and on the trails.
Our sons grew up on NSH's who were shown 4-H,
open shows won High pt. and reserve high pt. trophies both daily and end of the
year they also qualified for the 4-H State Horse shows in all classes
and than taken out on the trails.
Just like any horse watch what you feed and they
will take you anywhere and back safely.
We haven't owned only Arabs and NSH horses and have
found the other breeds we have owned are great too.
If it looks like a horse, smells like a horse
and is right for me I'm in love.
My horse isn't so much a luxury as she is a cost effective mental
health investment!
We were at a trainers this past weekend looking at a National
Show Horse. She made the comment that her experience is that NSH's are
spookier than purebred Arabs on the trail. For any NSH owners who ride
endurance, do you feel this comment is a true reflection of
a NSH?
