When I think of what you in the Northern states go through to bring a horse out of winter in some sort of shape, I have to count my blessings. We are wet, but relative to your temps, we are almost tropical. We may get below freezing at night, but just barely. I just want the sun to come out..!
Personally, this will be a busy year for me horse-wise. I have an 8 yr old-coming 9 in May (Fellow) who is ready for anything..! I have his little brother who is coming 5 (Ranger) and just under saddle..almost ready to go out for short trail rides, and after March, I will also have my new hubby's 4 yr old (Storm) to start (who is a little sister to both of mine) all DR Thunder Bask kiddos..!
My goals for Fellow: Do both days of Washoe in May, A 50 in June, Tevis in July. I don't know if I can have him ready for an April ride, but will see...getting married, moving, etc..in March.
My goals for Ranger: Take him camping (Lots) this summer. Maybe, if I feel he is ready, do Oroville in the fall, or Desert Gold if it happens. Both have good footing, and are relatively easy rides.
My goals for Storm: Get her under saddle, lightly out on the trail by fall. I want her ready for Marc to ride in Spring of '09

Yep I have been trying to dodging storms for the last 8
weeks and not doing a good job of it. My trailer has not moved since December
4th. My horse is getting a long vacation:-))
I am hoping to have him back in shape to do Paul's Ride
in MO the end of March.
I am also hoping to do my first fifty this fall, I did
finally try one last fall but my horse hurt his hip and was pulled at the first
vet check

Ridecampers:
I would like to suggest a new topic for today. As
alot of us are likely suffering cabin fever and dodging storms to ride, let's
talk about our goals for the season.
What is your first ride
planned?
What are you most excited about accomplishing this year in
general?
