The problem centers on whether you were aware or could reasonably be assumed to be aware. If you tell or post a sign saying that your dog bites, you have just told the world you are aware. If you post no sign and your dog bites the injured party would have to find evidence that you were aware (previous bites, being told by a neighbor that the dog acted aggressively etc.) (I also suspect that there is at least a plurality of jurisdictions in the USA where you are absolutely liable if your dog bites someone, I am assuming that the "dog bite" scenario is just a convenient example of a hazard.) By the way I am not advocating any course of action, or course of inaction relative to known or unknown hazards. Personally, I try to eliminate hazards and keep my mouth shut. I do post the equine liability law signs when appropriate.
