Re: [RC] Swanton Pacific - Dawn CarrieWhy would people prefer a 2 day 100 vs. 2 50s? Just curious.
I think partly because it then shows up on their ride record as a "100" same as if they had done a 1-day 100. :-p
Also, they have a better chance of placing higher, winning their weight division, etc., since they're just competing against those entered in the 2-day "100" as opposed to the whole field of 50s.
I think making the ride more manageable and having VCs in camp is fine if it means keeping the ride. Matter of fact, very few CT rides have out of camp VCs - which can create logistics issues when you are used to putting your horse in their pen for 99 out of 100 holds!
I wish more CT region rides had out of camp vet checks. Then when we go out of region, our horses would be more used to them. Most horses probably do fine. One of mine will eat anywhere, anytime...probably even in the middle of an interstate highway during rush hour. LOL The other one does ok at the trailer, but when we go out of region and there's an out of camp check, he spends most of the time staring around at all the goings on. He sees an out of camp check maybe once a year. <G> He's a sweetheart and good horse, but sometimes the poor boy is a few fries short of a Happy Meal. ;)
