Re: [RC] [RC] Which digital camera - carrie c firmanWhile I love my small, handy Nikon Coolpix S210 for quick shots (I also own a Sony DSLR for shooting rides), I have two friends who are full-time commercial professional photographers who keep an Olympus 1030 on hand for point-and-shoot moments. Its a shock-/water-/cold-proof camera, and might be a good option for a rough ride. I've only used it to snap a couple of shots, but it has a pretty quick response time when you press the shutter button, and they are very pleased with it. And in spite of its durability, it is very small - no thick shell here. Of course, you can buy sleeves and cases for it too!
Note thought, that it takes xD memory cards (Olympus's own proprietary card), not SD like the rest of the point-and-shoot cameras. It's a tad pricier than some, but may be worth it for its durability and features. (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/543347-REG/Olympus_226350_Stylus_1030_SW_Digital.html) Also notable however, is that it has up to 3.6x optical zoom - many point-and-shoots, because of their slim form, max out around 2 or 3. It also has a nice 10.1 megpixel sensor and huge 2.7" display. Hope this helps! Carrie Firman Ride Photographer/Graphic Designer On Sun, Aug 3, 2008 at 12:45 PM, <jacobsjazz@xxxxxxx> wrote: Hi.
