RE: [RC] Which digital camera - David LeBlancBelinda asked: I would like to get a decent camera with a zoom that gives clear pictures. Also I want a camera that I could throw in the saddle bag. So what is the camera of choice among this group. We've had two Canon's. The ones we prefer for horseback photography is the digital Elph series. The one my wife has now is this: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=14 5&modelid=14919 That's the 750. It actually takes very good movies, too, has good zoom, fast shutter speed, so that pictures aren't blurry unless you're moving a lot. I'm amazed by the picture quality, and I'm in general into nice SLR cameras with lenses that cost 2-3x what this whole camera cost. I dunno what your budget is - the Canon web site lets you compare them all - the new 790 looks nice, and goes up to 10 mega pixels. It's small, pretty rugged, light enough for a fanny pack or a pocket. You can usually get very good prices and service from Newegg.com - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2070070012+50001 213+106242024&name=Canon+PowerShot I'd buy the memory card for it at the same time - prices at the average camera store, or even Staples are a rip-off, and I'd get a 4GB card - when she first got it, she filled up the card, came home pouting that she couldn't take more pictures. Don't get the cheapest one - the cheaper they are, the slower they are, and that means more time between shots. Looks like several good cards around $35. I'm sure there are many other nice cameras out there, but we've been happy with both of the Canons we've had. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
