[RC] Ridecampers ain't all that mean - Sisu West RanchWhile, it would be a really good thing for us to all follow the Ridecamp oath etc., this list is neither unusual, or as mean or impolite as many. Examples, from other non-horse lists I belong to from the last 6 months:1. On one list I was attacked by the moderator (yes the MODERATOR) for using a technical term in a common, but technically improper way. In the next exchange he pounced on an unclear pronoun reference to accuse me of being stupid. When I apologized for the unk. pro. ref., but defended my word choice by quoting a noted authority in the field, he sent me a private email threatening to ban me for "sniveling". I have since watched this list and noted that it is very usual for new posters to be driven off by this moderator. 2. On another list, I gave some carefully considered advice. There was no acknowledgement of the post by anyone on the list. A day or so later, one of the "experts" on the list gave the same advice, again ignoring my post. He was profusely thanked for solving the problem. My bottom line: Let's all strive be civil at all times, but understand that internet lists tend to be less polite than we would be in person.
