RE: [RC] [RC] [RC] LD and Placings - Ranelle Rubin
Well said Marshall.
I frankly don't understand what the fuss is all about..? I am not a big fan of doing LD's myself, but have recommended them to others for rider or horse limitations (usually only temporary)..so hey, ride your ride, and be happy!
As the saying goes,
"You pays you money, you takes you chances".
If you don't like the rules of the game, don't play. Complaining only brings those around you down.

I suggest that any of you who think that LD's should be charged half price should put on a ride and see where the costs really lie. Campground facilities cost the same, land management fees are the same, water trucks, ambulance trailer, dinner, sanctioning fees etc are the same wether it is a 25 or 100 mile ride.
As far as benefits-where else can you get a GOOD vet check 3 times for the entry price? How about the facilities we use (try a private campground and all their rules and you will appreciate the ride facilities even more). Where else could you go and have the ability to learn from such experienced folks? There are a lot more benefits but these came to mind first.
