Our policy around here, because I ride alone into the wilderness, is to 
leave a note on the kitchen table indicating what time I left and where I am 
going.  Our trails have general names and landmarks, so when I write where 
I'm going, I write point to point to point, etc.  That way, if I'm far 
beyond ETA, Lud knows where to start looking for me.  Cell phones don't do 
well around here, either.
