Even more impressive considering that top cyclists (the video
said it was the Tour de France) will run at 25-30 mph+ on flat ground, much
faster downhill. That was one very fast horse. I think they said that was stage
2, which was run last year at an average of 40 kph over 220 km ( 24.8 mph over 136
miles ). I find it fairly amazing that a person can perform at that level with
no rest breaks for 5 hours or so. When I was cycling as a teenager, the best I
ever did was keep up that pace for around 3 hours, which was pretty good.
