RE: [RC] [RC] old military training tip - Ginger Bill

Hi! It's not just military strategy, but the old cowpokes have been putting the pebble in the mouth for years. I am no Spring chicken (58 years old) and my Grandfather told me to do it when we were working cattle and I would get thirsty. It's moreso to keep your mind off the thirst. It does work up spit, but that only lasts for so long. Of course, I passed it on to my children, but I gave them lemon drops and water. Ginger

I was watching an interesting documentary on the military with my husband
the other night and this caught my ear. "When marching long periods try
putting a pebble in your mouth. It will keep the mouth moist and reduce
thirst". It was form an old (WWI I think) military training manual.
Anybody heard of this or know if it works? If so, and to keep this
endurance related, it could be useful info if you ever run out of water and
get lost on a desert ride.
