Re: [RC] Number of horses and riders in France - John Teeter
does anyone have a count of the non-LD (>50 miles) numbers for the US endurance community? is it 3000? or closer to the 6000 number? (as we are looking at @6000 >80km riders in France, what is the equivalent in the US?)
And then I think it is also useful to understand inclusive numbers as well (is France 12,000 CEI+CEN riders?)
hooooh... hey John, CENs go up to 90km and this is real endurance. Your LD's are 25 miles, so something like 40km. Sorry but I will be shot by some of the list, but this is not endurance.
Our limited distance rides (30, 40 and 60kms) are considered as qualifying rides and are limited in speed. A ranking is well calculated, based on smart algorithms using metabolic parameters and speed (up to the max allowed one, if you go over you are disqualified), something like the BC.
Our CEN or 90km (or 80km in Belgium) are like CEI rides except that :
- in Belgium, this is not the first to cross the finish line who is necessarily the winner; the winner is the first to enter the vetgate at the HR of 56 BPM - in France also they use 56 BPM as criteria
The difference Leonard points out is CEI.vs.CEN - from the (elitist:)? view of the 160km rider, of course these CEN events are not? endurance! and we get the 6000 person count. As we in the US already? KNOW -- LD is not Endurance ... CEI.vs.CEN ... it's the same old story.
But when we want to count the number of endurance riders in the us,? we gladly through in the LD riders (the 6000 number from the US is? the AERC membership number which includes both divisions). We should? do the same for France.
If we counted both the CEI and CEN participants, where would the? French endurance population stand??
