RE: [RC] [RC] [RC] NATRC is not endurance - Katrina MosshammerOn Behalf Of Ranelle Rubin <<I personally feel it is a great way for folks who are recreational trail riders to enter into a form of competition on the trail. They can start in NATRC, then decide if they even WANT to go further or faster...alot don't. This is very true. We have a friend that mainly pleasure rides but tried a CTR on her mare. They bit did very well for the whole ride and at the end she was had points knocked off her score because her horse had stepped in a mud puddle and had mud on her back legs. She now volunteers to ride drag for the local CTRs. Her philosophy is she can still go to the ride, get to camp out and be around friends, gets to ride the same trail, but she doesn't have to pay for it. She is perfectly happy doing it this way and it works for her. Mom actually started in CTR and my dad and brothers and sisters all used to do CTRs. Mom crossed over to endurance and my siblings did some endurance rides. I never did CTR. I went straight to endurance and really have no desire to do a CTR. That is just my personal preference. To each their own. There are many riders who successfully compete in both.
