[RC] revisiting the saddle hunt - Tx TriggerOne of the best tools I have found out there to check saddle fit is an impression pad. It is worth the $200 to check the fit on saddles you are trying out. http://www.rocler.qc.ca/portlewis/index.htm A thicker pad is NOT always the answer. If the saddle is already fitting what one things is "well", filling up that space with a thick pad can actually make the saddle pinch. I have a super wide horse, and he takes a fairly thin pad, like the Supracor, as anything thicker will make the saddle a poor fit. There is no perfect saddle or saddle pad that will work for all horses. And indeed, your horse could have some soreness from the previous saddle. Jonni in TX Original message: Robert R Ok, what about saddle pads. I just can't believe the saddle I am currently testing doesn't fit. It looks perfect and I am guessing I am seeing some residual soreness from the previous tester. I am going to call and see if I can have an additional week to just let him rest and try it again but I need a better saddle pad anyway so I thought I might look for some recommendations on those to match it up with after his rest period.<<< =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
