Re: Re: [RC] Reality bites/ horse slaughter - rjkoppIf the slaughter market goes away there will again be unusable/unwanted horses eating pasture and hay, and it will be harder than ever to find a place to keep the ones you ride, the price of feed will go up, supply and demand. You think it's hard to find hay or pasture now? Wait till the 1000s of unwanteds overwhelm the rescue folks. Where are they going, who puts out the $$$$ for care? Interesting, just this morning while I was out riding I had an exercise rider from the local training track stop me to talk - she has a 4 year old thorobred she needs " to find a home for" free and says there are alot of cheap horses ( $100) that she knows of that people are trying to get rid of. I asked why and she said " now that the killers aren't buying there is no where to get rid of these horses". Sad. And this is in the heart of ' horse country'.
